US census maps – race
The following maps were generated using data from the QuickFacts website of the US Census Bureau. The data is based on surveys in which residents of each area are asked which race they belong to. Residents can declare themselves to be of just one race, or a mix of two or more races. Those maps which include 'alone' in the title show the people who declare themselves to belong to just one race. The final map shows the distribution of people of two or more races.
Note also that 'hispanic origin' is not a race, and, as the QuickFacts site points out, 'persons of hispanic origin may be of any race'. For more information about these statistics, see the QuickFacts FAQs.
One final note: the colours used on the maps are a continuous scale from 0% to 100%.
